Yolanda de los Bueis

Yolanda de los Bueis Unanua (Bilbao, 1967) has a degree in Fine Art from the University of the Basque Country, a postgraduate qualification in painting from Saint Martin’s College of Art in London and a Masters Degree in Digital Moving Image from the London Metropolitan University.

She has received various cinema awards as well as scholarships and collaborations, including a grant awarded in 2004 by the Basque Regional Government.

How professional experience, in brief, is based around the fields of design for printing, websites and DVD, 3D graphic art, animation and video editing.

The project

Using the medium of intrusion and intervention in public settings, she proposes to create a kind of performance and interactive art that mixes audiences over the Internet; in other words, the performance will be live and broadcast digitally, thereby combining theatre with games and the most advanced technology.

The project is based around the notion of playing and games, and probes into the fundamental laws of entertainment and recreation, raising questions about the boundaries between games/playing and the real world, which also have important ramifications in art, performance and virtual worlds.

This project also aims to contribute to the debate about the development of games as an art form and how games can be conceptually, intellectually and emotionally demanding whilst also appealing to a broad audience.
