What is KREA | KREA News

The new KREA website has registered over 10,000 visits since it was launched in April

21 August 2008

The most visited sections are the home page, creation grants, artists’ profiles and activities. The number of visits, from as many as 62 different countries, has doubled following the renewal of the website.

The new website kreared.com has received an average of 3,000 visits a month since it was launched at the end of April 2008, giving a total of over 10,000 visits in just over a quarter (10,469 visits from the 22nd April to the 19th August).

These visits originated in as many as 62 different countries (mainly the United Kingdom, Mexico, Argentina, Holland and France) and the users visited an average of 5 pages within the site, over an average browsing time of 3 minutes. So far, users of the new website launched by KREA Contemporary Expression, a project backed by the Social Commitment Division of Caja Vital Kutxa, have accessed over 50,000 pages in total.

The preferred pages among users are, in this order, the home page, creation grants, artists’ profiles and the pages related to the different activities promoted by the cultural centre.

As for the way in which Internet users reach kreared.com, over half access the page directly, 29% through search engines and 18% through links from other websites. When accessing the website through search engines, the most frequently entered keywords are ‘krea’, ‘grants’, ‘krea vitoria’ or the names of the artists who have received KREA grants such as ‘ander perrino’ and ‘elena aitzkoa’.

The user interaction tools have also received a positive response. The newsletter, which keeps people informed of all KREA’s cultural activities via e-mail, currently has over 1.500 subscribers, hoping to reach 2.000 at the end of the year.

These figures have been very well received, as they signify an important increase in visits in comparison with the previous version of the website (100%). This growing trend in user traffic also confirms that the goals set when remodelling the website – restructuring of the information architecture and the expansion of contents, improvements in accessibility and usability, increase in multimedia presence and the establishment of a digital platform for the creators involved with the KREA project – have received the support of internet users.

The new version of the website was created by the Álava-based company Creatta.net and the idea was to make it a participatory, active and dynamic platform. KREA has also turned its attention to web 2.0. tools and social networks such as Flickr (communities based around photography), YouTube (a website that allows users to share digital videos over the Internet), and Facebook (a social tool that puts people in contact with their friends and other people).
