Invitations to the concert by Garth Knox will be available at KREA’s headquarters from the 25th August onwards

The Irish musician is one of the best viola players on the international scene. The performance will take place on Friday 5th September at 8:00 p.m. in the Aula Fundación Caja Vital Kutxa in Vitoria-Gasteiz.

Fans of contemporary music can pick up free invitations for the concert that Garth Knox, one of the finest viola players on the international scene, will be performing on the 5th September at 8:00 p.m., in the Aula Fundación Caja Vital Kutxa in Vitoria-Gasteiz. There will be 200 invitations available, which members of the public can collect from Monday 25th August onwards at the offices of KREA Contemporary Expression, located at No. 17 Postas, from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

This concert by Garth Knox is part of the programme scheduled for the First International Meeting of Sound Creation and Diffusion. The event, entitled “Silence, KREA”, is being organised by KREA Contemporary Expression, a cultural project supported by the Social Commitment Division of Caja Vital Kutxa, in collaboration with the Sinkro association. This initiative came about with a view to creating a meeting place for leading sound research centres and labs from Vitoria-Gasteiz, Euskadi and the world. 

In his performance, Knox will be delighting members of the audience with music that combines electronics and the viola, performing pieces by Gérard Grisey, Salvatore Sciarrino, Zuriñe Gerenabarrena, Kaija Saariaho and Richard Karpen, one of the guest speakers at the First International Meeting of Sound Creation and Diffusion.

The programme includes the following pieces:

- Gérard Grisey, ‘Prologue’ for viola and electronics
- Salvatore Sciarrino, ‘Tre notturni brillanti’ for viola
- Zuriñe Fernández Gerenabarrena, ‘Azalpean’ for viola and electronics
- Kaija Saariaho, ‘Vent Nocturne’ for viola and electronics
- Richard Karpen, ‘Solo/Tutti’ for viola and electronics
