The leitmotiv of this proposal, entitled ‘Reinventing Zaramaga’, is the redesign of this neighbourhood, with generous helpings of creativity and imagination.
The creative minds behind this project – Andrea Abrigar, Maitane Arrieta, Noelia Huelmo and Silvia Murguia – are looking to transform the image of this neighbourhood, a working class area created in the fifties that is looking a little tired these days, and turn it into a more youthful and contemporary area. To achieve this, they plan to adapt the housing to different family models and invent solutions for singles, couples, students and traditional families.
The students plan to keep the current aesthetic of Zaramaga and its exposed brickwork, and combine it with industrial materials such as concrete, slate, ceramic slabs and sheets of steel. These materials will be complemented by different artistic interventions installed on the facades of the buildings.
The different plans, models and explanatory panels included in the exhibition are on display between the 1st July and the 25th August at KREA’s current headquarters, no. 17, Calle Postas, from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
There will also be 20 minute guided tours for anyone interested in visiting the exhibition on Thursdays at 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
